What to expect from 5-star luxury hotels
A 5-star luxury stay in Singapore usually means a spacious room, a large pool and a full spa. Most hotels have several restaurants, a club lounge and staff on hand at all hours. Some suites come with butler service. The settings vary widely, from colonial buildings to glass towers and island resorts.
Every hotel on this page also holds a Google rating of 4.0 or more. Star labels differ between booking sites, so guest reviews are a useful second check.
Heritage landmarks
Raffles Hotel Singapore is a colonial-era landmark on Beach Road and a national monument. All of its rooms are suites, with butler service. The Fullerton Hotel Singapore fills the grand former General Post Office building by the Singapore River. Just off Orchard Road, Goodwood Park Hotel offers another historic setting. These hotels suit travellers who enjoy old architecture, high ceilings and a sense of the past.
Marina Bay and the waterfront
Marina Bay is home to the city's best-known skyline. Marina Bay Sands has a rooftop infinity pool that is open only to hotel guests. The Fullerton Bay Hotel sits right on the water. Mandarin Oriental Singapore and The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore are a short walk from the bay.
Stay here for evening walks along the water and quick access to Gardens by the Bay. See all Hotels in Marina Bay & CBD for more choices.
Modern design hotels
Park Royal Collection Pickering, near Chinatown, is known for its tiered sky gardens. The Clan Hotel Singapore is a 5-star boutique tower in the CBD, the Central Business District. Pan Pacific Orchard has open-air garden terraces stacked up its tower.
Tanglin, Orchard and Sentosa
West of the centre, Tanglin is greener and calmer. Shangri-La Singapore is set in large gardens. Four Seasons Hotel Singapore and The St. Regis Singapore are near the western end of Orchard Road. The Singapore Botanic Gardens are a short ride away.
For a resort feel, Sentosa island has Capella Singapore, set in restored colonial buildings and tropical grounds. Raffles Sentosa Singapore is also on the island. Our Sentosa & Resorts page has more island stays.
How to choose and book a luxury hotel
- Decide what matters most. For views, look at Marina Bay. For history, look at Raffles or The Fullerton. For space and greenery, look at Tanglin or Sentosa.
- Check the real price. As a rough guide, many 5-star rooms start from about S$400 a night, and suites cost far more. Prices change often, so check the latest prices.
- Read the small print. A rate marked "++" does not yet include service charge and GST, Singapore's goods and services tax.
- Look at what the rate includes. Club lounge access, breakfast and late check-out can add real value.
- Book restaurants early. Popular hotel restaurants and afternoon teas can fill up at weekends.
- Know the dress codes. Some fine-dining rooms ask for smart casual dress. Save beachwear for the pool.
- Ask about pool access. Rooftop pools are usually for staying guests only.
Luxury stays with children
Many 5-star hotels welcome families. Larger rooms, connecting rooms and big pools make longer stays easier. Some hotels also have a kids' club or a children's pool. Ask about pool rules and child-friendly dining before you book. What Makes a Hotel Family-Friendly in Singapore lists what to check.
FAQs about 5-star luxury hotels in Singapore
Which luxury hotels have the best skyline views?
Hotels around Marina Bay face the city skyline and the water. Marina Bay Sands is the best known, thanks to its rooftop pool. Non-guests can visit the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark Observation Deck instead.
Do I need to tip at a 5-star hotel in Singapore?
Tipping is not expected, as most bills already include a service charge. A small tip for a porter or extra help is welcome but optional.
Can non-guests visit luxury hotels?
Yes, for many areas. Restaurants and afternoon tea are usually open to everyone, so book ahead. Pools, gyms and club lounges are normally for staying guests only.
What is the best area for a luxury stay?
Marina Bay suits first-time visitors who want views and sights on foot. Tanglin and Orchard suit shoppers and those who like quieter streets. Sentosa suits a beach-style break.
