Marina Bay Sands SkyPark Observation Deck
See the city skyline, Marina Bay and the sea from the open-air observation deck on the 56th floor of Marina Bay Sands.
About Marina Bay Sands SkyPark Observation Deck
The Marina Bay Sands SkyPark Observation Deck sits on the 56th floor of the Marina Bay Sands hotel. From up here you can see the city skyline, Marina Bay and ships waiting out at sea.
It is one of the easiest ways to see Singapore from above. This guide explains what to expect, how to get there and how to plan your visit.
What is the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark?
Marina Bay Sands is the large hotel with three towers joined at the top by a long platform. That platform is the SkyPark. It holds gardens, restaurants and the well-known rooftop pool.
The pool is for hotel guests only. Visitors who are not staying at the hotel can still go up to the observation deck with a ticket. The deck is an open-air viewing area at one end of the SkyPark.
The view is the main reason to come. You look down on the bay and across to the older parts of the city. On a clear day you can see far out over the sea.
What you can see from the observation deck
The deck gives you a wide, open view. Take your time and walk the full length of the viewing area before you choose a spot for photos.
- The city skyline: the office towers of the Central Business District rise across the water.
- Marina Bay: you look down on the bay, the waterfront promenade and the Helix Bridge.
- Gardens by the Bay: look for the tall Supertrees and the glass domes of Gardens by the Bay.
- The sea: ships wait in the Singapore Strait, a sign of how busy the port is.
- Other landmarks: spot the Singapore Flyer and the spiky domes of the Esplanade theatres.
How to get to the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark
The nearest MRT station is Bayfront, on the Circle Line and the Downtown Line. The station connects to the Marina Bay Sands complex, and signs point the way to the hotel towers.
Inside the hotel, follow the signs for the SkyPark Observation Deck. You show your ticket at the entrance and then take a lift up to the 56th floor.
You can also walk from Merlion Park or the Esplanade along the waterfront. The path around the bay is flat and easy, and it is pleasant in the evening. If you are new to the trains, read our guide on how to use the MRT in Singapore.
Tickets and the best time to visit
You need a ticket for the observation deck. Prices and opening hours change, so check the official Marina Bay Sands website for opening hours and tickets before you go. Booking ahead can save time at busy periods.
Late afternoon is a good choice. You see the city in daylight, watch the sun go down and then see the lights come on. This is also the busiest time, so expect more people.
Mornings are usually quieter. The air is often clearer after rain, which helps with long views. Singapore is hot and humid all year, so wear light clothes. Our page on weather and the best time to visit has more on the climate.
Tips for visiting
- Check the weather before you go. Low cloud can hide the view.
- Heavy rain and lightning can affect outdoor areas, so have a backup plan.
- Bring a fully charged phone or camera. You will take more photos than you expect.
- Allow extra time for queues at weekends and around sunset.
- Do not plan to swim. The rooftop pool is only for hotel guests.
- Pair your visit with the free evening shows around the bay. See our guide to free light shows in Singapore.
