Fort Siloso
A former British coastal fort on Sentosa, now a free open-air military museum with old guns, tunnels and a treetop skywalk.
About Fort Siloso
Fort Siloso is a former coastal artillery fort at the western tip of Sentosa. Today it is an open-air military museum, and entry is free.
The fort tells the story of Singapore's defence from the late 1800s to the Second World War. It is a good stop for anyone interested in history.
Why visit Fort Siloso
The British built the fort in the late 19th century to guard the western approach to Singapore's harbour. Big guns once faced the sea from its hillside positions.
During the Second World War, the fort was part of Singapore's defences. Singapore fell to Japanese forces in February 1942, and the occupation lasted until 1945.
Today the site helps visitors understand this period. Exhibits, signs and restored gun positions explain how soldiers lived and worked here.
The fort is also simply a pleasant place to walk. Paths wind through trees, with views over the sea and passing ships.
What to see and do
Allow time to walk the whole site at a gentle pace. These are the main things to look out for.

- Fort Siloso Skywalk: a tall treetop walkway that leads up to the fort, with views over the coast.
- Gun emplacements: see old coastal guns and restored gun positions.
- Tunnels: walk through underground passages that once linked parts of the fort.
- Exhibits: learn about the fort and the war through displays and signs.
- Sea views: look out over the water towards the port and nearby islands.
Please treat the site with respect. Many people suffered during the war, and the fort is a place of remembrance as well as learning.
How to get there
From the city, take the MRT to HarbourFront station and walk to VivoCity. Ride the Sentosa Express monorail to Beach station.
From Beach station, walk west along Siloso Beach or take an island bus towards Siloso Point. The Skywalk entrance is near the western end of the beach.
