What is Jewel Changi Airport?

Jewel Changi Airport is a large glass dome in front of Terminal 1 at Changi Airport. Inside, you will find a giant indoor waterfall, a terraced garden, shops, restaurants and a hotel. It sits on the public side of the airport, so anyone can visit. You do not need a flight ticket. Many locals come here for a meal or a day out.

Shops and restaurants keep their own hours. If you plan to visit late at night or very early, check before you go.

Things to see at Jewel

The Rain Vortex

The Rain Vortex is the centrepiece. Water pours about 40 metres from a round opening in the glass roof into a pool below. It is one of the tallest indoor waterfalls in the world. In the evening, it hosts a free light and sound show. Show times can change, so check them on the day.

Forest Valley

Around the waterfall, Forest Valley is a terraced indoor garden with thousands of trees and shrubs. Walking trails climb up through the plants. Entry is free, and it is a calm place to wait before a flight.

Canopy Park

Canopy Park sits on the top level of Jewel. It has paid attractions such as a hedge maze, a mirror maze, walking and bouncing nets, and slides. There is also a high bridge with views of the waterfall. Ticket prices vary by attraction and can change, so check before you go.

Shopping and food at Jewel

Jewel has hundreds of shops and places to eat over several floors. You will find global fashion and sports brands, beauty stores, gadgets and toy shops. Local snack and gift shops are handy for last-minute souvenirs. There is also a supermarket, which is useful for local coffee and snacks to take home.

Shops at Jewel are on the public side of the airport, so prices include GST. Visitors can often claim this tax back when they fly out. Read GST Refund at Changi Airport: Step-by-Step Guide.

For food, choose from food courts, casual chains and sit-down restaurants. Shake Shack (Jewel) is a popular stop for burgers. For local food at local prices, take a short taxi ride to Changi Village Hawker Centre. Browse more choices on Restaurants in Changi & Airport.

How to get to Jewel from each terminal

  • Terminal 1. Jewel is directly linked to Terminal 1. Follow the signs from the arrival hall.
  • Terminals 2 and 3. Walk across the link bridges. It is a short walk.
  • Terminal 4. Take the free shuttle bus to Terminal 2, then walk to Jewel.
  • From the city. Take the MRT to Changi Airport station, between Terminals 2 and 3, then follow the signs. A taxi can drop you at Terminal 1, which links straight to Jewel. Read How to Use the MRT in Singapore: A Tourist Guide.

Visiting Jewel on a layover

Jewel sits outside the transit area. Transit passengers must clear immigration to visit, so check the Visas & Entry rules first. Leave plenty of time to get back through immigration for your next flight. For longer stops, see Singapore Layover Itinerary: 8 Hours in the City and the Layover & Stopover topic.

How much time do you need?

Allow one to two hours to see the Rain Vortex and walk through Forest Valley. Add an hour or more for Canopy Park or a sit-down meal. Shopping can easily fill an afternoon.

  • See the waterfall in daylight and after dark if you can. It looks quite different.
  • Weekends and school holidays are the busiest times.
  • On a long wait, leave your bags at a luggage storage service in the terminals.
  • Bring a light layer, as the air conditioning can feel cool.
