About Jewel Changi Airport

Jewel Changi Airport is a large glass dome at Singapore's main airport, with gardens, shops and restaurants inside. At its centre is the Rain Vortex, an indoor waterfall about 40 metres tall. Entry to Jewel is free, so it is easy to visit before a flight or on a day out.

Jewel opened in 2019. It links directly to Terminal 1, with walkways to Terminals 2 and 3. Its address is 78 Airport Boulevard, Singapore 819666.

What is Jewel Changi Airport?

Jewel is a mix of indoor garden, shopping centre and attraction. It is open to the public, so you do not need a flight ticket to visit. Locals come to eat and shop, while travellers stop by before or after a flight.

Floors above and below ground hold shops, restaurants and gardens. You can see the waterfall from many levels, and each gives a different view.

What to see and do at Jewel

The Rain Vortex is the main sight. Water pours from an opening in the glass roof down through the middle of the building, surrounded by indoor forest. In the evening, a light and sound show plays on the falling water.

  • Rain Vortex: one of the tallest indoor waterfalls in the world.
  • Forest Valley: terraced indoor gardens with walking paths around the waterfall.
  • Canopy Park: gardens and play areas on the top level, including mazes and nets you can walk on.
  • Shops and restaurants: many outlets, from local snacks to international brands.

Walking around Jewel and seeing the waterfall is free. Canopy Park and some of its attractions charge a fee. Check the official Jewel Changi Airport website for opening hours and tickets.

Jewel is also a good place to shop before you fly. Read our GST refund at Changi Airport guide to learn how tourists can claim tax back on purchases. For more shopping ideas, see our Jewel Changi shopping guides.

How to get to Jewel Changi Airport

Jewel is part of Changi Airport, so it is easy to reach by train, bus or taxi. Changi Airport MRT station sits below Terminals 2 and 3. From there, follow the signs to Jewel through the terminal buildings.

If you come from the city by train, you may need to change at Tanah Merah station. Our guide on how to use the MRT in Singapore explains how to pay and change lines. Taxis and ride-hailing cars can drop you at any terminal, and Terminal 1 links straight into Jewel.

Visiting Jewel on a layover

Jewel sits outside the airport transit area. To visit during a layover, you must pass through immigration. You then go back through departure immigration for your next flight. Check the entry rules for your passport first, and leave plenty of time.

Our Singapore layover itinerary shows how to plan a longer stop. For entry rules, see our visas and entry guides.
