Labrador Nature Reserve
A free coastal nature reserve on Singapore's south coast with sea views, a mangrove boardwalk and old military relics.
About Labrador Nature Reserve
Labrador Nature Reserve is a green stretch of coast in the south of Singapore, not far from HarbourFront. It mixes coastal forest, a mangrove creek and sea views with remains of old military forts. Entry is free. It is a good choice for a quiet walk with a bit of history along the way.
Read on for what to see, how to get there and tips for a comfortable visit.
What is Labrador Nature Reserve and why visit?
The reserve sits on the southern edge of the main island, facing the sea. It protects one of the few rocky shores left on mainland Singapore. Behind the shore is a patch of coastal forest with shady paths. A mangrove creek runs along one side.
The area also has a long military past. Remains of old gun positions and bunkers still stand among the trees. Signboards along the paths explain parts of this history.
Visit for fresh sea air, easy trails and a change from the city. It is also a calm place to watch ships pass on one of the busiest shipping routes in the world. Many visitors pair it with nearby Mount Faber Park for a longer day outdoors.
What to see and do
The reserve is not large, so you can see the main sights in one easy walk.

Berlayer Creek boardwalk
Berlayer Creek is a mangrove creek with a boardwalk along it. You can look down at mangrove roots, mudskippers and small crabs. The best time to see them is at low tide. The boardwalk is flat and shaded in parts.
Coastal views and the jetty
Walk to the water's edge for wide views of the sea. You will often see large ships at anchor and smaller boats passing by. A jetty stretches out over the water and makes a good place for photos.
Old forts and war relics
Look for the remains of old gun emplacements and bunkers along the forest paths. They are a reminder of the area's role in defending Singapore's harbour. Please treat these sites with respect and do not climb on them.
Dragon's Teeth Gate replica
Near the shore stands a replica of a rock formation known as Dragon's Teeth Gate. The original rocks once marked the way into the old harbour for ships. A sign nearby explains its story.
How to get to Labrador Nature Reserve
Take the Circle Line to Labrador Park MRT station. From there, it is a short walk to the reserve. If you are new to the trains, our guide on how to use the MRT in Singapore explains fares and cards.
HarbourFront MRT station is two stops away on the same line. So you can easily combine a visit with the HarbourFront area or Sentosa. Taxis and ride-hailing cars can also drop you at the car park near the main entrance.
Tips for visiting Labrador Nature Reserve
- Go in the early morning or late afternoon, when it is cooler and the light is soft.

- Stay on the marked paths and do not collect shells, plants or animals.
- Do not feed any wildlife you see.
Entry is free. Check the National Parks Board (NParks) website for any trail closures or updates before you go.
