A free hilly park in south-west Singapore with a treetop walkway, sea views and links to the Southern Ridges trail.
Kent Ridge Park is a hilly, forested park in the south-west of Singapore. It sits on a ridge above Pasir Panjang, close to the National University of Singapore. The ridge was named in the 1950s, after a visit by the Duchess of Kent. Entry to the park is free. Come here for shady trails, a treetop walkway and wide views over the sea and the port.
This guide covers what to see, how to get there and practical tips for your walk.
Kent Ridge Park is one of the green spaces that make up the Southern Ridges. This is a chain of parks and walking routes across the south of Singapore. Kent Ridge Park is at the western end. From here, paths lead east to HortPark, Telok Blangah Hill Park and Mount Faber Park.
The ridge also has an important place in Singapore's history. In February 1942, soldiers of the Malay Regiment fought a battle on and around this ridge during the Second World War. A heritage centre called Reflections at Bukit Chandu stands nearby. It tells the story of this battle and the people who fought in it.
Visit if you enjoy nature walks, quiet views and a bit of history. It is far calmer than the busy parks in the city centre.
The park is fairly compact, but the paths go up and down. You can see the main sights in an hour or two.

The Canopy Walk is a raised boardwalk that runs through the treetops. It gives you a close look at the forest and the birds that live there. The walkway leads on towards HortPark, so it is a good start for a longer walk.
From the higher parts of the park, you can look south over the sea. You will see the container port, ships and the southern islands. Early morning and late afternoon are good times for photos.
Kent Ridge Park is popular with birdwatchers. Bring binoculars if you have them. You may also see squirrels, lizards and butterflies along the trails.
Take a moment to learn about the battle fought here in 1942. Reflections at Bukit Chandu is a short walk from the park. Check its own website for opening hours and tickets before you go.
The park is served by the Circle Line. Kent Ridge MRT station and Haw Par Villa MRT station are both within walking distance. From either station, expect an uphill walk to reach the main trails.
If you are new to the trains, our guide on how to use the MRT in Singapore will help. A taxi or ride-hailing car can also drop you at a park entrance. This saves you the climb, which helps on a hot day.
The park itself is free. For updates on trail closures, check the National Parks Board (NParks) website before your visit.
There are few places to eat inside the park, so bring snacks and water. Many visitors eat before or after their walk in the nearby Pasir Panjang area. If you walk the full Southern Ridges, HarbourFront at the far end has plenty of food. Our guide to the best hawker centres in Singapore for tourists lists good low-cost options.
Several other places are close by. The Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum is at the National University of Singapore. Haw Par Villa is just below the ridge on Pasir Panjang Road. Further west, West Coast Park is good for families. If you walk the full Southern Ridges, you will end up at Mount Faber Park.
