A river-themed wildlife park in Mandai with giant pandas, manatees and animals from some of the world's great rivers.
River Wonders is a river-themed wildlife park in Mandai, Singapore. It shows animals and fish from some of the world's great rivers, from the Mississippi to the Yangtze. It is also home to giant pandas on loan from China, which many visitors come to see.
Its panda area opened in late 2012, and the full park opened as River Safari in 2013. It was later renamed River Wonders. It is smaller than the zoo next door, so it works well for a half-day visit.
Rivers support a huge range of life, and this park shows that in a clear way. Walking paths follow a series of river areas, each based on a real river. Signs explain the animals and the threats they face in the wild.
Much of the park is shaded, and some areas are indoors. This makes it a useful choice on a very hot or wet day. It is also easy to combine with the other Mandai parks.
Start with the river areas, which include the Mississippi, Congo, Nile, Mekong and Yangtze. You will see large freshwater fish, turtles and other river animals up close through glass.

The boat ride may have its own rules, such as height limits. It may not run in bad weather or during maintenance. Check the official River Wonders website for opening hours and tickets, and for any extra charges.
Keeper talks and feeding sessions are a good chance to learn more and ask questions. Check the official website or the park map for the day's schedule. Never feed the animals yourself.
River Wonders is in Mandai, between Singapore Zoo and Night Safari. There is no MRT station at the park. Many visitors take the train to Khatib MRT station on the North-South Line, then a shuttle bus to the Mandai parks. Check the official website for the current shuttle service.
Public buses also serve the area, and a taxi or ride-hailing car is the simplest choice for groups. If you are new to the trains, read our guide on how to use the MRT in Singapore.
The park is fairly compact and easy to walk with prams. It can be busy on weekends and school holidays, so a weekday visit is often calmer. For more ideas on wet days, see our rainy day activities guides.
There are food outlets inside River Wonders and around the Mandai entrance area. You can eat without leaving the reserve.
Next door, Singapore Zoo has orangutans, elephants and much more. Bird Paradise has large walk-through aviaries with birds from around the world. In the evening, Night Safari shows animals that are active after dark.
Nearby, Kranji War Memorial is a quiet place to remember those who died in the Second World War. For more ideas, read our North Singapore guide and our theme parks and zoos guides. Families can find more on our family fun page and in things to do with kids in Singapore.
Yes, River Wonders is home to giant pandas, which live in the indoor Giant Panda Forest. The pandas are on loan from China, so check the official website to confirm they are on show before you go.
Most people spend two to three hours. Allow more time if you want to watch feeding sessions or take the boat ride.
