An interactive centre in the west where families learn about Singapore's history, people and daily life through hands-on exhibits.
Singapore Discovery Centre is an interactive attraction in the west of Singapore, at 510 Upper Jurong Road. It tells the story of Singapore, its people and its future through hands-on exhibits. It is popular with school groups and families.
The centre is some distance from the city centre, but the trip is easy by MRT and bus. It suits a half day out, especially if you have children.
Many visitors only see the city centre. This centre gives a deeper look at how Singapore grew from a small port into a modern city. Displays explore history, identity and everyday life on the island.
The exhibits use games, screens and simple challenges, so children learn while they play. Adults will also pick up facts that help them understand what they see around Singapore. It is a good stop before or after a day exploring the west.
Exhibits change from time to time, so check the official website for what is on. Typical highlights include:

The centre also runs workshops and holiday programmes for children. Some activities may need a separate booking, so check before you go. Allow time to try the interactive parts, as they are the most fun.
The nearest MRT station is Joo Koon on the East-West Line. From there, take a short bus ride or walk to Upper Jurong Road. Use a map app to check the best route on the day. Our guide on how to use the MRT in Singapore explains cards and fares.
Taxis and ride-hailing cars are easy to book and can save time with young children. Allow extra travel time from the city, as the centre is in the far west.
After your visit, head to Jurong Lake Gardens, a large park around Jurong Lake with gardens, walking paths and play areas. It is a short ride along the East-West Line. Families can find more ideas in our things to do with kids in Singapore guide and our family fun list.
For a meal, the shopping malls around Boon Lay and Jurong East have plenty of places to eat. Many locals eat at hawker centres, and our guide to the best hawker centres in Singapore explains how they work. Read our guide to Jurong and the West for more food and sights in this part of the island.
History fans can explore more in our culture and heritage section and our museums and galleries guides. On a wet day, see our rainy day activities for more indoor ideas.
Yes. The exhibits are hands-on and designed with families and students in mind.
Most visitors spend two to three hours.
Joo Koon MRT station on the East-West Line is the closest. A short bus ride or walk takes you to the centre.
If you have children or enjoy history, it makes a good half-day trip. Combine it with Jurong Lake Gardens to make the most of the journey.
